From the Founder

Busy start to 2023 for National Group as new projects ramp up.

Welcome to the latest edition of Unstoppable.

I’m pleased to report that National Group has had another strong start to the year. More of our people and equipment are heading to mine sites around Australia. That’s created a big few months to kick off 2023.

This issue provides a glimpse of that work and our team’s dedication. I’m delighted that it features two National Group “veterans” – Frank Boyce from our New South Wales operations and Jane Craven from our head office on the Gold Coast.

Frank joined National Group in 2006 when we had 10 staff and a small workshop in Maitland in NSW. He’s watched our company grow to more than 250 staff and expand to many more locations. His knowledge of the parts market is second to none.

Having been with National Group from near the start, Frank understands the company’s culture better than most. He reckons it hasn’t changed much over the years, despite the growth. That’s music to my ears because our culture is the company’s greatest strength.

Jane has been with National Group since 2013. An Assistant Accountant, Jane is leading projects to digitise aspects of National Group’s systems. It’s important work and part of our company’s strategy to continue investing in its systems and to provide even stronger foundations to support our growth.

Jane is a good example of how National Group employees tend to grow their role as the company grows, and learn new skills.

In addition to the profiles, two other articles in this edition showcase National Group’s work behind the scenes to build our business.

The first is about our new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. National Group has always thought about its impact on the Environment, its Corporate Social Responsibility and its Governance processes and systems. The new ESG strategy formalises that work and will help to guide our company in this area.

I want National Group to contribute to the growing focus on ESG among privately owned companies. And to let our actions do the talking by having strong processes to measure, benchmark and report on our ESG outcomes, over time.

The final article in this issue showcases National Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility work. Led by Kain Ford, our Head of Marketing and Partnerships, National Group continues to provide financial and in-kind support for communities, particularly those in regional and remote areas.

Although much of our CSR work is grassroots, it is a way for National Group to give back to communities that support us. We hope to do more CSR work with health-related charities and Indigenous communities this year.

That work will covered in a future editions of Unstoppable. I hope you enjoy this one.

Yours sincerely
