Mark Ackroyd is a visionary Australian entrepreneur. In 1997, he founded National Group with a single bulldozer. Today, National Group owns one of Australia’s largest fleets of heavy-earthmoving equipment for hire.

By revenue, National Group ranks in the top-300 privately owned companies in Australia, and in the top-50 private companies in Queensland. As CEO and Managing Director of National Group, Mark leads a business that has hundreds of employees across Australia – and some of the world’s largest mining companies as clients.

Mark has successfully launched and grown companies in equipment hire, mining services, heavy haulage, machinery sales and auctions, and other services. Together, these companies form National Group’s unique end-to-end service offering.

A high-school dropout, Mark has featured in the Australian Financial Review Young Rich List. A diesel mechanic by trade, Mark is recognised as an industry thought-leader in mining services. He is passionate about mining and regional communities. Mark believes in the power of mining to create jobs and careers, and change lives. Through an active corporate social responsibility program, National Group supports many regional events and industry associations.

From humble beginnings, Mark continues to drive consistent, sustained growth at National Group – and contribute to the success of Australia’s world-class mining sector. He lives on the Gold Coast, where National Group is headquartered.
